Meta’s Spark Muse 1.1 is now available on Databricks, fully governed by Unity AI Gateway
Every new model release promises better reasoning, lower costs, or new capabilities, and developers want access on day one. But every provider also introduces another set of API keys, another integration, and another governance surface for platform teams to manage. Without a centralized way to govern all model providers, access becomes fragmented, API keys proliferate, and visibility into usage and spend disappears.
Announcing the Public Preview of Distributed ML on Serverless and Standard Clusters
The Public Preview of Apache Spark MLlib (Python) and Optuna on serverless notebooks and jobs, as well as standard clusters, brings distributed machine learning to Databricks’ unified compute environments, combining performance, security, and ease of collaboration without the need for dedicated clusters. From Dedicated to Serverless ML Until now, distributed ML workloads such as training with Apache Spark MLlib or hyperparameter tuning with Optuna could only run on dedicated clusters.
Examining Versionless Apache Spark™: AI-powered upgrades and seamless stability for 2 billion workloads
Upgrading Apache Spark™ has never been easy. Every major version brings performance improvements, bug fixes, and new features, but getting there is painful. Most Spark users know the drill. Workloads break, APIs change, and developers can spend weeks fixing jobs just to catch up. This results in new features, performance improvements, and bug and security fixes taking significantly longer to adopt. At Databricks, we wanted to remove this friction entirely.
Pre-stimulus beta power mediates explicit and implicit perceptual biases in distinct cortical areas - Communications Psychology
Abstract Perception is biased by expectations and previous actions. Pre-stimulus brain oscillations are a potential candidate for implementing biases in the brain. In two EEG studies (43 and 39 participants) on somatosensory near-threshold detection, we investigated the pre-stimulus neural correlates of an (implicit) previous choice bias and an explicit bias.
What’s new in Unity Catalog Compute
We’re making it easier than ever for Databricks customers to run secure, scalable Apache Spark™ workloads on Unity Catalog Compute with Unity Catalog Lakeguard. In the past few months, we’ve simplified cluster creation, provided fine-grained access control everywhere, and enhanced service credential integrations—so that you can focus on building workloads, instead of managing infrastructure. What’s new?

In two EEG studies on somatosensory near-threshold detection, we investigated the pre-stimulus neural correlates of an (implicit) previous choice bias and an explicit bias. The explicit bias was introduced by informing participants about stimulus probability on a single-trial level (volatile context) or block-wise (stable context).

Unity Catalog Lakeguard: Industry-first and only data governance for multi-user Apache™ Spark clusters
We are thrilled to announce Unity Catalog Lakeguard, which allows you to run Apache Spark™ workloads in SQL, Python, and Scala with full data governance on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform’s cost-efficient, multi-user compute. To enforce governance, traditionally, you had to use single-user clusters, which adds cost and operational overhead.
Pyspark 2023: New Features and Performance Improvement
With the releases of Apache Spark 3.4 and 3.5 in 2023, we focused heavily on improving PySpark performance, flexibility, and ease of use. This blog post walks you through the key improvements. Here's a rundown of some of the most important features added in Apache Spark 3.4 and 3.5 in 2023: Spark Connect introduces a decoupled client-server architecture that permits remote connectivity to Spark clusters from any application.

Sabrina Mockenhaupt-Gregor schaut in Bönnigheim vorbei
Prominente Starterin beim Abendsportfest:Sabrina Mockenhaupt-Gregor.
