What was your first job as a journalist?
Staff on the college paper, and writer at the local city newspaper. Learned a lot in those early days.

How is social media changing news?

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Find your beat, find your passion, uphold ethical standards. Be transparent. Put your voice and heart into your stories.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Pen and paper, still! Aside from that, laptop, email, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
Good ol' fashioned in person conversation.
Why did you become a journalist?
I wanted to make a meaningful difference with words.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Addressed to "Dear Mark," pitching me a men's beard oil. At the very least, know who your pitching. Above all, get my name right. Missed both
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee, water, tea. The essentials.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Outside.

Trails magazine, and Mountain Gazette.
