What was your first job as a journalist?
Besides working at our high school paper for a semester, it was with The Daily Cardinal at the University of Wisconsin.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
For my first school report back in 7th grade. Disaster!
How is social media changing news?
I find myself seeing breaking news via Twitter first before seeing it elsewhere. The tweets lead me to websites or NPR.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Web based tools include Hootsuite, Facebook, Google search engine, LinkedIn. Microsoft Word for writing and I can't live without my iPhone.

Facebook
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I only worked one semester and did a couple of stories. Our paper wasn't very robust. I don't even recall what I wrote about.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime via email, social media, etc. I tend to work in the early mornings and fade as the day goes on.
