What was your first job as a journalist?

Work experience kid at a now-dead gaming mag. Two weeks in Bournemouth.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Still email. Please!

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Aside from Photoshop, I could work on anything with a web browser now. Keyboard preferred, obviously. A Macbook Air is amazing.

Ghost of Christmas Past.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Work for free, but only if you enjoy what you're writing. Then get as much (BRUTAL is better) feedback as possible -- and get paid for it.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time, I attack my inbox on my phone wherever I am.
