The Washington Capitals have re-signed Brett Connolly before he hit the free agent market on July 1st. After posting career highs in goals (15) with the offensive heavy Capitals it’s not surprising the team would use his third line services once again. With 15 goals as a career high, he was still two points short of his total career high of 25 from 2015-16 with the Boston Bruins. During that season he put up 16 assists which still remain as a career high for the 25-year-old winger.

With limited picks this year five instead of seven or more, the Anaheim Ducks made the best of it with what they had. Definitely not having a first round pick hurts, but the two second round picks also makes up for it big time because there are gems all through the draft, you just have to know how to find them. With only spent two seasons in the QMJHL, Comtois has proved to be a solid scorer. In 2015-16 he posted 26 goals and 34 assists for 60 points in 62 games.
The Minnesota Wild have acquired prospect Dante Salituro from the Columbus Blue Jackets for center Jordan Schroder. For quite some time now the Edmonton Oilers have been waving around Jordan Eberle’s name in trade rumors for years. And finally one has gone through. The club announced Thursday that they have sent the top scoring forward to the New York Islanders for center Ryan Strome. The 23-year-old Strome was a fifth overall pick in 2011 by the Islanders that split time between both the NHL club and their affiliate in the AHL the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
When you look at this Vegas Golden Knights roster it’s not hard to imagine just how competitive they will be next season, they have a ton of scorers and some solid vets to help give this team some wins. They also have accumulated a solid amount of draft picks and prospects in the process, practically bleeding organizations dry. But none the less, we all knew this was coming.
Once Adidas was brought in as the new brand to the NHL for gear we all knew they were going to tweak a few jerseys. But a total of 13 has seen change while the rest got a few minor stitching upgrades. However, one team received their very first NHL jersey ever. Of course we’re talking about the Vegas Golden Knights and to be honest, they look okay. Since the NHL started every team has received jersey upgrades over the years.

Lyytinen who was drafted 132nd overall in 2014 has spent his career so far playing at home in Finland.
All thirty teams have released their protection lists, and one that caught me by surprise was the Islanders, they chose to protect only three forwards in order to protect most of their defensive crop. Now, this is a semi-smart move, and the reason I say this is because now the Isles have a ton of talent up front left for the picking and someone extremely skilled is going to go to the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Arizona Coyotes have been busy, on Friday they acquired forward Nick Cousins and goaltending prospect Merrick Madsen from Philadelphia for a 2018 fifth round draft pick and prospect Brendan Warren. Thursday evening surprised us all with a dandy of a deal as the Montreal Canadiens traded away top tier prospect Mikhail Sergachev and a conditional second round pick in 2018 to the Tampa Bay Lightning for forward Jonathan Drouin and a conditional sixth round pick in 2018. Drouin who is now 22 years old has recently had a lot of drama around his name in Tampa not liking the role he was playing and wanted more minutes.

The NHL Rumor is that Toronto and Florida have proposed a deal, and somehow it was leaked. These are the details. Florida is willing to move defenseman Mark Pysyk for Leafs defenseman Connor Carrick, Kerby Rychel along with a 2018 second round draft pick. Now to me anyways, the addition of the second round pick may be too much. Rychel is a fantastic player with a ton of potential upside as well as Carrick. While Pysyk has already laid out his foundation as a fifth or sixth defenseman.

The Nashville and Pittsburgh series in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs was phenomenal, Pekka Rinne was brilliant even though he had to be replaced a few times by backup Juuse Saros. But the same thing happened with Pittsburgh when Marc-Andre Fleury had a disaster of a game and Matthew Murray took over.
