Online Overreactions after Notre Dame’s Cheeseburger Bye Week Original
Fans need bye weeks, too. I hope you all were able to settle in and eat some cheeseburgers. Or, did the reverse happen as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn’t play and dropped a spot in the rankings? Either way, the bye week happened. I still wanted to highlight a couple of general overreactions I saw online in regard to the general college football landscape and what we saw on Saturday. Let’s take a look. Holy Homerism, Batman. There is a lot here.
Notre Dame 24, BYU 28: Online Overreactions Original
Welp. There was definitely some room for doubt on Saturday night. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost a wild game on Saturday night to the BYU Cougars in what many considered a true litmus test for how the team actually is. BYU was the first team truly that gave the Irish a challenge in 13 calendar months. The loss stings for a lot of reasons, basically making a game against #1 Miami a must-win.
Notre Dame 58, Stanford 7: Online Overreactions Original
We’re back with some more overreactions. In a Notre Dame Fighting Irish 58-7 rout of the Stanford Cardinal, it’s a bit tough to get some insane overreactions, but some takes were definitely still thrown out there. There aren’t that many that I could choose from, but here are some favorites that I found. Any thoughts about offensive “woes” especially during the 2nd half are pretty comical if you ask me.
Notre Dame 37, North Carolina 26: Online Overreactions Original
Well, that game and the how it played out was expected by pretty much no one. The way the first half overall was going, you would think just about everyone’s predictions for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish game vs. the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday were going to be correct. Then add in some weird coaching choices, special teams and defensive mistakes, and some rain, and we ended up getting way too stressful of a second half.
Notre Dame 49, Purdue 10: Online Overreactions Original
Welp. Another rivalry trophy belongs in the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That’s yet another whomping of a team, and putting the Irish at 3-0 against the Big 10 this season. It wasn’t close against the Purdue Boilermakers, and that top defense continued to show it doesn’t mess around. Takes still fly online during and surrounding these games, so let’s take a look at some overreactions, whether you find them valid or not.
Notre Dame 27, Michigan State 10: Online Overreactions Original
THAT’S A MEGAPHONE! But actually, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish keep the Megaphone Trophy in Shields Hall as they defeated the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night. When I was unfortunately anticipating hearing about Usher 800, there was only a little rain during the game with no delays at all. The Irish seemed to have played below expectations to some of you, so let’s dive into it. Keep in mind, I was able to be in the stands for this game, so I was not following overreactions live.
Notre Dame 52, Rice 0: Online Overreactions Original
With a game like that on Saturday afternoon, it’s a little tough to find much overreaction to anything (thank the Good Lord we were the farthest thing from another Marshall or NIU situation). The Notre Dame Fighting Irish absolutely FRIED the Rice Owls on Saturday afternoon. It was just never close, and where we saw the second and third-stringers most of the second half.
Notre Dame - 41 Wisconsin - 13: Online Overreactions Original
Well that win had me jumpin around (after we all got past that underwhelming first half). 13-0 in Shamrock Series games, no big deal As we head through what should be an exciting and incredibly interesting Notre Dame Fighting Irish season, just like previous years, I will be compiling and explaining away takes after seeing some WILD OVERREACTIONS to this game and all games this season.
Shelf Awareness for Readers for Friday, December 19, 2025
Latest News Picture it: a dozen people gathered in a cozy living room, candles flickering on the window sill, a table spread with cheese, nuts, and sweets, mulled wine warming on the stove as the scent of cinnamon and cloves wafts around the room, and at the center of it all, piles of books ready to be traded. A friend of mine often hosts this kind of book exchange during the cold season, welcoming friends into her home to share what we've read throughout the year.
On the Rise of ChatGPT and the Industrialization of the Post-Meaning World
When you teach children to analyze, or appreciate, poetry, you get used to a certain complaint, that you’re making it up, that the writer did not give that much thought to choosing a colon over a comma. The truth, although it’s one I’m careful about admitting to students, is that yes, often they did not. Reading poetry requires a state of receptiveness that can sometimes border on generosity.

Online Overreactions: Notre Dame 49, Stanford 20 Original
Well, I don’t know about a lot of you Eastern timers, but I was (barely) awake for every snap on Saturday night/Sunday morning. That was rough, and an experience I don’t really want to go through again. Thankfully, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had the Stanford Cardinal taken care of pretty much by the end of the first quarter. Another low stress and dominant win. 10 wins in a row to close out the season. With the game how it was and how late it was, there weren’t a whole lot of overreactions I saw.
Online Overreactions: Notre Dame 70, Syracuse 7 Original
Ok, so I really don’t know how much overreacting we had to this one. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish absolutely SHELLACKED the Syracuse Orange on Saturday afternoon. It all was so ridiculous that it was more comical than anything (and just downright sad for Syracuse). You could call never seeing something like what took place especially in the first quarter an overreaction, but it truly was something historic. 21 points without the offense even sniffing the field.
Online Overreactions: Notre Dame 37, Pittsburgh 15 Original
Back at it again with another cover of a double-digit number. This time on the road for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish against the Pitt Panthers. A LOT of outside noise this week. Online Pitt fans tweeting at will about whatever they wanted. The place that ND has in the CFP discussion. Any many other things. The noise was drowned out, and the Irish very much took care of a business in not the cleanest game, but a very effective one.
Online Overreactions after Notre Dame’s blowout win over Navy Original
You always get some mixed emotions and reactions to this game every year. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Navy Midshipmen play nearly every year (Covid year notwithstanding), and no matter what you think of playing the matchup every year, it is refreshing to play an opponent you don’t (and really, can’t) hate. And, we got another mid-fall, winter wonderland in the second half.
Some fans went crazy during Notre Dame’s 25-10 win over Boston College Original
Not all double digit wins by Notre Dame are treated the same, and some people lost their minds Woof. It’s rare that you don’t feel amazing about a double digit win, but that’s where we found ourselves. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish did beat the Boston College Eagles by 2 scores, but it was the process of the overall game that became insanely frustrating. Stalling drives, inexplicable fumbles, a defense that gave up a lot of the middle of the field, and oh yeah, some actually abysmal kicking.
Online Overreactions: Notre Dame - 34, Southern Cal - 24
What a win. Hopefully the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have the chance to continue one of the greatest rivalries in college athletics with the USC Trojans after this season. But for now, the Irish came out on top in the last scheduled game for now. What a day it was with a lot of weather, a rushing attack, and so much more. Yes, beating the hated rival causes wonderful celebration. But, especially as the game did go on, frustrations flew from everyone.
Online Overreactions after Notre Dame’s 36-7 Win over NC State
This one saw earlier overreactions that cooled off With the Notre Dame Fighting Irish taking down yet another opponent in the NC State Wolfpack, the Irish finally are at a record that fans can stomach and doesn’t look strange, 4-2. It’s not awesome, but it begins to make sense how the Irish are firmly in the driver’s seat of controlling their own destiny to make the College Football playoff.
Online Overreactions: Notre Dame VS Boise State
Well, in a pretty bizarre game, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Boise State Broncos in the first ever game between these two schools. What was an uneventful score of 28-7 was not indicative of how weird a lot of the proceedings ended up being. It was a ref show of epic proportions, an incredibly sloppy start to the game, and it was like a record high temperature for an October home game.
Online Overreactions after Notre Dame’s 56-13 win over Arkansas
Well, like last week (another game putting up 56 points), when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish dominate and have this game won by halftime, you don’t see overreactions like we do in tense games/losses. However, a game like this against the Arkansas Razorbacks can show that people might be a bit more bored and dig into posing online more, just not with such fervor or hot takes. Even just giving up 13 points, the Chris Ash discourse continues. Rightfully so.

Online Overreactions: Notre Dame VS Purdue Original
Winning cures everything? Well, kind of. Hey, I actually get to write this after a win - it’s been a while. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish played a somewhat wacky game on Saturday afternoon/night. This game felt like it had everything - a weather delay, beer in the stadium, helicopters, a kickoff return, and giving up 30 points to a measly Purdue Boilermakers team.
Online Overreactions: Notre Dame VS Texas A&M Original
PAIN. Big pain. Well, WOOF. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are not making this easy on anyone. In a wild game on Saturday night with the Irish making us all irate by losing a Big 12-esque game, we stand here confused and angry at the loss and an 0-2 start. Things look bleak. Are they actually? Or are these two losses by 4 total points to two top 10 teams and need to get right?
Notre Dame 24, Miami 27: Online Overreactions after Irish Loss Original
Hey, everybody. I know we’re all a bit down right now, but hopefully this can bring some lightheartedness. As we head through what should be an interesting Notre Dame Fighting Irish season, I will be compiling and explaining away takes after seeing some WILD OVERREACTIONS to this game and all games this season. These will mostly come from takes, emotions, and thoughts I see or hear during the games or immediately following games. I mean, just wow.

Online Overreactions to Notre Dame Football in the CFB Playoff (so far)
Amber Searls-Imagn Images We Have Many Reactions to An Actually Big Bowl Game Victory So, folks, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team is now 2-0 in the College Football Playoff, and the win against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl was almost euphoric. The job is not finished, so we need to check ourselves on overreacting to the biggest bowl win in 31 years, but this one feels very good.
Notre Dame VS Army: Online Overreactions
Danny Wild-Imagn Images Violence Was Definitely Chosen The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just completely demolished the Army Black Knights on Saturday night in Yankee Stadium. Army came into the game ranked and undefeated, and no more to that. They were just another team in the way of the steamroller that the Notre Dame team has been since the NIU loss in early September.
Notre Dame VS Virginia: Online Overreactions
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Mad Online, But Rightfully So So the Notre Dame Fighting Irish played their Senior Day game against the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon. In a 3-score win, the game had some pretty weird moments. A good and needed win, but sort of a strange day at times. We had some happenings on and off the field that made this game ripe with some heat-of-the-moment overreactions. This is currently not a playoff caliber offense.
Notre Dame VS Florida State: Online Overreactions
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Let Us Clear Our Throat The lone night game for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Notre Dame Stadium this season ended up not disappointing. The Irish absolutely dismantled the Florida State Seminoles 52-3 in a game that made my 9-year old self who witnessed in person the 37-0 loss in 2003 feel vindicated.
Notre Dame Football: Online overreations after Irish blowout Georgia Tech
Brett Davis-Imagn Images Fun Times in ATL, but Some Controversies Still Come Up The Notre Dame Fighting Irish went into Atlanta on Saturday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and got a good win. It all was a little funky - Mercedes-Benz Stadium, roof open, white pants, and a slow start. However, the team got to the point where even scoring into the 20s meant the game was put away. Some flukey stuff occurred, and I think we saw that with some early play in the game.
Online overreactions for Notre Dame’s 49-7 win over Stanford
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Usher 800? Is that you? I was not at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish game against Stanford on Saturday, but I was at the 2011 USF game. So, I feel like we all had an overreaction to the lightning delay, which our minds immediately jump to that awful day 13 years ago. We’re back with some more overreactions. In a 49-7 rout, it’s a bit tough to get some insane overreactions, but some takes were definitely still thrown out there.
Notre Dame Football: Irish VS Louisville Online Overreactions
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Concerns Arise Because of a Close Game and Injuries The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just completed their 5-game stretch before their Bye Week, culminating with a win this past Saturday against the Louisville Cardinals. This ranked matchup provided an opportunity for the Irish to showcase a true win in a tough test in a revenge game, this time at home. It was not the prettiest win, but they did win.
Notre Dame VS Miami (OH) Online Overreactions
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images Still Winning, But Still Complaining On Saturday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish almost blanked the Miami (OH) RedHawks, allowing only 3 points to them. However, with some known offensive struggles, maybe a more “boring” game, and the Irish still failing to cover a 27.5-point spread, there was still some ire within the fanbase.
Notre Dame Football: Online Overreactions to Irish victory over Purdue
Alex Martin/Journal and Courier / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images WE CAN BE DEMONSTRATIVE So, I guess we can see the Notre Dame Fighting Irish can truly score some points. Wow - out of all of the outcomes to occur Saturday, I don’t think many of us saw a 66-7 whomping of the Purdue Boilermakers. I mean the game was never close. A true cleansing from the NIU debacle.
Notre Dame Football: Overreactions after Irish loss to Northern Illinois
Matt Cashore-Imagn Images I am dead inside. Um, ok. So, that game happened yesterday. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish played a football game that we have seen with them “playing” games with the likes of 2022 Marshall and Stanford. I don’t really know what in the hell all of that was. The anger is really just numbness at this point.
Notre Dame's Tenacity Shines in Season-Opening Win vs. Texas A&M
As we head through what should be an interesting and fun Notre Dame Fighting Irish season, I will be compiling and explaining away takes after seeing some WILD OVERREACTIONS to the game. These will mostly come from takes, emotions, and thoughts I see or hear during the games or immediately following games. On Saturday night, the Irish FINALLY got a marquee road game win to open the season. The game was close, and the team ended up having A TON of tenacity,. imposing a will to win over TAMU.

Women’s Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame VS UConn
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports Always The Intriguing Matchup On Saturday evening, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team goes into their yearly matchup against the UConn Huskies. This year, the context will be Storrs, CT for a Top-15 matchup. Of course as we all know, the Irish and the Huskies have a loonnngggg and storied rivalry, always playing every season despite not being in the same conference for over a decade now.
Notre Dame Women’s Basketball Roundup
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports Making Up For Some Time Hey, all. Listen, the lack of articles on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team is on me. But, I’m here to rectify that and provide some updates on the program and where we have been for the past month and how the team will be shaping up into the true gauntlet of conference play. I’ll hit some true highlights here, and then we will look to get back into original programming. Let’s roll.
Notre Dame Beats Purdue 76-39 After Unveiling the Muffet McGraw Statue
x.com/ndwbb The GOAT Has Officially Been Immortalized The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball Team just completed a rout of the Purdue Boilermakers on Sunday afternoon. The final score was 76-39, and that was just a part of a really fun day for the program and the whole University of Notre Dame. Before the Noon ET tipoff inside Purcell Pavilion, Notre Dame unveiled the statue of Muffet McGraw that will now forever stand tall outside of the Joyce Center.
Women’s Basketball: Fighting Irish Take on Tennessee in ACC/SEC Challenge
Photo by Joseph Weiser/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Hannah Hidal-GO IRISH...am i right??? The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball Team had a brief stumble at the very beginning of the season when they got pretty well overmatched against South Carolina in a game played in Paris. Now, stateside, the team has been on a pretty decent roll. They are looking to add to their roll and produce a pretty signature win in their game on Wednesday evening.
Women’s Basketball: Notre Dame Loses to South Carolina 100-71
Photo by Aurelien Meunier/Getty Images Whoops Welp. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball Team got to go on a trip and experience of a lifetime earlier this week. They traveled to Paris, France to play against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the first ever NCAA basketball game played in France. This was a top-10 matchup of two highly touted and respected programs in the history of Women’s Basketball.
Notre Dame VS Clemson: Overreactions
Ken Ruinard-USA TODAY Sports Ok, sure. So the Notre Dame Fighting Irish took on the Clemson Tigers on Saturday, and for so many reasons it did not go well. It was truly a strange game where we all thought it was over, but technically the Irish had about 5 opportunities to tie/take the lead. They squandered all of them, as we all know. That game was so weird, and a true head scratcher. It was not a good football game by any stretch of the imagination.
Women’s Basketball: Notre Dame Opens Season Against South Carolina in Paris
MATT CASHORE / USA TODAY NETWORK Oui, Oui The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball Team are taking their talents all the way over to Paris, France to play their season opener today. The team will face the South Carolina Gamecocks in a historic matchup. This game is the first US collegiate basketball game played in France. It adds even bigger weight because there are two powerhouses in the sport of women’s college basketball.
Notre Dame Football: Overreactions to an Irish beatdown of Pitt
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports There were some things to cause overreaction, but not much The Notre Dame Fighting Irish absolutely DEMOLISHED the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday afternoon, leaving Narduzzi and his weird vendetta against us in the absolute dust of Chris Tyree and whatever was left of Phil Jurkovec as a quarterback. Luckily, overreactions in a 50+ point win are hard to come by, but I think we can highlight a few today. ND vs. Pitt: Overreactions I hate playing Pitt.
Notre Dame Dominates Pittsburgh in a Blowout Win
Key points: Notre Dame dominates Pittsburgh in a blowout win Previous games between the two teams have been close, but this one was different Potential future quarterbacks showcase their skills in garbage time The Notre Dame Fighting Irish dominated the Pittsburgh Panthers in a blowout victory, leaving fans with little to overreact about. In previous meetings with Pitt, the games have been close and strange, but this time Notre Dame made sure there was no nail-biting ending.
Notre Dame VS Louisville: Overreactions
Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports ABYSMAL Yikes. It was a TOUGH scene on Saturday night when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish decided not to get off the bus before playing the Louisville Cardinals. The last time I saw that truly happen was the last time the Irish lost a regular season ACC game, against Miami 31 ACC games ago in 2017. I was not a happy camper, and I saw/participated in many overreactions. Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports ND vs.
Notre Dame Football: Overreactions to the Fighting Irish win over Duke
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports OOF College football is a weird but beautiful thing. I still really don’t know what the hell happened on Saturday night when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish rose like the phoenix from true ashes and death to steal a road ranked victory over the Duke Blue Devils. However, because it was a victory, I still feel VASTLY better on Sunday and Monday than I did last weekend. My emotions went all over the damn place on Saturday night.
Overreactions from Notre Dame’s 17-14 loss to Ohio State
Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports There were definitely reactions. On Saturday night, as we all painfully know, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came up literally inches shy of defeating Ohio State and exorcising that demon. However, that didn’t happen. What did happen, like in most games, were reactions and overreactions to what happened before, during, and after the game. Let’s take a look at a few that I noticed so then we can fully move on and prepare to go 11-1 (he says hopefully).
