What was your first job as a journalist?
During summer breaks from college, I worked full-time for the Chino Champion, a venerable weekly newspaper in what was then a dairy area.

Yes, many times as a kid.

An email clearly explaining why the item is newsworthy to general readers is always helpful. Avoid pitching products or companies.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Election night pizza in the newsroom is the best pizza of all. Make sure you get it while it's hot.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Midday is usually best.
