Salinization and sedimentation drive contrasting assembly mechanisms of planktonic and sediment‐bound bacterial communities in agricultural streams
2.9.2 Threshold indicator taxa analysis (TITAN) We used threshold indicator taxa analysis (TITAN) (Baker & King, 2010) to identify individual ASV and community responses to different environmental gradients represented by our field sites. TITAN combines Dufrene and Legendre's (1997) indicator species analysis (IndVal) and non-parametric breakpoint analysis to identify the region along environmental gradients with the highest probability of inducing single-taxa responses.
U of A team receives new funding to advance understanding of misfolded proteins linked with dementia
While the world has been in the grip of COVID-19 for the better part of a year, it’s not the only pandemic that Canadians will pay an awful toll for. Journal of Environmental Quality Abstract - Surface Water Quality Diatom Assemblage Changes in Agricultural Alluvial Plain Streams and Application for Nutrient Management | Digital Library
doi: 10.2134/jeq2018.05.0196 Matthew B. Hicks *a and Jason M. Taylorb a USGS, Lower Mississippi-Gulf Water Science Center, Jackson, MS, 39208 b Water Quality and Ecology Research Unit, National Sedimentation Lab., USDA-ARS, 598 McElroy Dr., Oxford, MS, 38655 Core Ideas: Identifying stream nutrient indicators is difficult in agricultural landscapes. Diatoms found in Mississippi Alluvial Plain streams are sensitive to changes in P concentrations.
Nutrient and sediment concentrations and loads in the Steele Bayou Basin, northwestern Mississippi, 2010-14
The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Vicksburg District, monitored streamflow, water quality, and sediment at two stations on the Steele Bayou in northwestern Mississippi from October 2010 through September 2014 to characterize nutrient and sediment concentrations and loads in areas where substantial implementation of conservation efforts have been implemented.
