Community resilience done well protects people and places
The town centre and waterfront are key to the Lang Toun's identity. They are places where people meet, shop, exercise, and look out across the Forth. As we plan for regeneration, we must face climate challenges. The UK's Climate Change Committee warns that our lives and homes are increasingly affected by climate change. Its report, “A Well-Adapted UK,” highlights risks from heat, flooding, and drought. This stresses the need for climate adaptation.
Representation and Warranty Insurance: To Serve and Protect
What is Representation and Warranty Insurance (RWI)? Understanding RWI requires understanding the role of representations and warranties in an M&A transaction. Essentially, representations are assertions of fact made in the M&A agreement that the other party relies on as its basis for entering into the transaction; while warranties are promises of indemnity if an assertion of fact turns out to be false.
Relative distance of entangled systems in emergent spacetime scenarios
Abstract Spacetime emergence from entanglement proposes an alternative to quantizing gravity and typically derives a notion of distance based on the amount of mutual information shared across subsystems. Albeit promising, this program still faces challenges to describe simple physical systems, such as a maximally entangled Bell pair that is taken apart while preserving its entanglement.
Extraterrestrial Axion Search with the Breakthrough Listen Galactic Center Survey
Abstract Axion dark matter (DM) may efficiently convert to photons in the magnetospheres of neutron stars (NSs), producing nearly monochromatic radio emission. This process is resonantly triggered when the plasma frequency induced by the underlying charge distribution approximately matches the axion mass. We search for evidence of this process using archival Green Bank Telescope data collected in a survey of the Galactic Center in the C band by the Breakthrough Listen project.
Embracing the Winds of Change Through Investments in the United States’ Energy Future | JD Supra
“When the wind of change blows, some people build walls, others build windmills.” While this ancient Chinese proverb most likely did not envision the construction of large-scale, offshore wind farms, its wisdom remains strikingly applicable to the United States’ energy and infrastructure policies in the 21st Century.

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, the Ninth Circuit issued a critical decision in California Chamber of Commerce v. Where Can We Go to Escape Utah-Based Interior Design Demons?
Welcome to Magnolia Month! Every week, we’ll share in depth reviews of just about every new show on the absolutely cursed Magnolia Network, from Fixer Upper demons Chip and Joanna Gaines. This week, Matthew has just barely survived a near fatal encounter a “van life” enthusiast, immediately after he jumped from the burning wreckage of a Utah schoolhouse turned suburbanite Victorian brothel. We’re so glad he’s OK, of course… but give us the goods! Let’s get into it.

Technology helps Man City's push for Premier League title
BURNLEY, England - Cruelly denied by VAR in its agonizing Champions League exit, Manchester City relied on technology to keep its Premier League title charge on course on Sunday. City scraped past Burnley 1-0 thanks to a scruffy strike by Sergio Aguero that needed the confirmation of goal-line technology. The distance over the line? Less than 3 centimetres.

Will Last-Minute Petition for Review Keep Natural Gas Flowing?
On February 7, 2018, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) moved for a last-minute review to save the Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline just hours before it was scheduled to be shut down. In a motion filed on Tuesday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, FERC asked the court for a 45-day stay of issuance of the court’s mandate to allow the agency to issue an order on remand reauthorizing certificates for the pipeline project.
