Maurice Oniang'o’s Biography

Maurice Oniang'o is a versatile Freelance Multimedia Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has written and produced content for various media organizations such as National Geographic, Al Jazeera (AJ+), Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), Africa Uncensored, Kenya Television Network, NTV, 100 Reporters, Transparency International, Africa dot Com among others.

He has gone through various trainings and fellowships among them; Investigative Journalism (RNTC- Netherlands), Investigating Wildlife Crime (National Geographic), Investigate 101 (Africa Uncensored), Financial Journalism (Bloomberg Media/Strathmore University). He is also a National Geographic Explorer and a fellow of the inaugural National Geographic Field Ready Program.

He has won various awards, including Development Reporting Award TV 2021- AJEA (Media Council of Kenya), Environmental Reporter of the year TV 2015- AJEA (Media Council of Kenya), Thomson Foundation Young Journalist of the Year-2014 (Foreign Press Association-London).
