Prime Aged Workers Tumble By 280K, Workers 55 And Over Surge To New All Time High
In addition to the troubling trend revealed by the yet again declining labor participation rate as a result of hundreds of thousands of Americans dropping out of the labor force (and lack of entrants), one other recurring concern we have had with the jobs report is that new job growth has disproportionately gone to elderly workers, those 55 and over at the expense of young (16-24) and prime aged (25-54) workers. This trend reverted itself in April.
Blast From the Past - Hillary Clinton vs. Bernie Sanders on Panama
Blast From the Past – Hillary Clinton vs. Bernie Sanders on Panama Unlike most politicians, Bernie Sanders becomes increasingly impressive the more you learn about him. Forget for a moment whether you think the tax dodging strategies popularized by the Panama Papers are ethical or not, it’s important to note that Bernie Sanders publicly warned about an expansion in such behavior all the way back in 2011.
Systemic "Fragility" Surges
With "significant" financial stress pervading the markets, it is hardly surprising that systemic risk concerns are rising rapidly. What we have been experiencing in markets this year, as BofA's FX team notes, is the impact of multiple shocks, at a time when central banks cannot come to the rescue, in a market that has been addicted to the central bank policy put. This leave cross-asset correlation soaring as shocks become larger leaving market fragility increasing.
Bonds & Bullion Best As Dollar Crashes To 4-Month Lows
European bonds are collapsing... systemic risk is rising... US Services economy "pillar" plunges... and jobs data is dismal - stocks shrugged... The USD Index is down over 3% this week - the worst 4-day drop since China's devaluation in August and plunging it back to 4-month lows... Perhaps this is why? PBOC is actively intervening - selling USDs to support offshore Yuan... Trannies were ecstatic... but the rest of the US equity market just could not get with the program...

Even the rich are starting to feel the pinch, at least according to the favorite jeweler of the upwardly mobile middle-to-upper class (especially in China and Japan), Tiffany & Co., which earlier today reported Q2 EPS of $0.86, below the $0.91 expected, with GAAP EPS of $0.81 some 16% below the $0.96 record last year.
S&P 500 Tumbles Into Red For 2015, Breaks Below Key Technical Support
The S&P 500, having broken below its 200-day moving average again... Has joined The Dow Transports, Dow Industrials, and Russell 2000 (small caps) in negative territory year-to-date... Charts: Bloomberg
"Far Worse Than 1986": The Oil Downturn Has No Parallel In Recorded History, Morgan Stanley Says
On Tuesday the market got yet another reminder of just how painful the "current commodity price environment" has been for producers when Chesapeake eliminated its common dividend in order to conserve cash. After noting the plunge in Chesapeake’s shares (to a 12-year low) we subsequently outlined why the US shale "revolution" is now running out of lifelines as hedges roll off and as the next round of credit line assessments looms in October.
A Helpless China Tips Its Hand: A Market Crash "Poses Great Danger To Social Stability"
While Greece has understandably been the focal news event over the weekend - after all it has been 5 years in the making - let's not forget that in another massive move, one geared squarely to prevent a market collapse and to avoid even further panic, the Chinese central bank cut both its policy rate and the reserve rate in a dramatic push to calm down markets after a 10% crash in just two trading days.
Humans Score Rare Victory Over Machines As Colorado Man Executes Computer In Alley
Last year, courtesy of Michael Lewis, the entire world was alerted to what we have known for more than five years: the market is rigged.
