Did you know that one in five of all known species on earth is a beetle? In fact, there are thought be to over 400,000 different beetles around the world. They often get a bad rep, but they play a vital role in a healthy planet, so much so that stag and rainbow leaf beetles are protected in the UK and Europe, while in the US, countless species are protected, including the American Burying Beetle. Beetles are nutrient recyclers and therefore contribute to soil fertility.
