It seems every trip I take to the grocery store now costs at least $100. And I don't mean my normal grocery trip. I mean EVERY trip. Just stopping in for the bare minimum; bread, milk, and eggs, and somehow $100 later my fridge is still bare, but my wallet has taken a beating. And that's just the beginning. Start adding in beef, snacks, and pretty much any kind of beverage, and you're easily hitting that $250 mark for two weeks of groceries.

The first day of fall is September 22. According to the Farmer's Almanac, it's still going to feel like summer through September. Pizza is already one of the easiest foods to find around the Quad Cities, but Bettendorf now has a pretty unusual way to get it... from a vending machine. A Speedy Pie Pizza vending machine has arrived in Bettendorf, giving Quad Citizens a new option when they want a pizza without making a traditional stop at a pizza restaurant. And yes, you read that correctly: it's a pizza vending machine.

There has been a lot of discussion over the new automatic license plate readers (ALPR's) like the brand Flock has created to help police departments track criminals from their crimes to their hiding places. The worry is that they could potentially be misused, like this officer who got fired after some gross misuse of the system.

The reason it's gone viral, is because it's from the band that closed out the festival, a new band nobody had heard of named Pearl Jam. An Iowa man traveled to Switzerland and ended his life after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He stated that he made his decision because laws would not allow him to do the same in the state of Iowa. A Farewell Message on Facebook The Des Moines Register reports that Rusty Martin of Des Moines died on August 18th in Switzerland, after taking medication by a doctor to end his life. Days before his death, Martin posted a farewell message to friends and family on Facebook.

When my wife and I are not out hiking, we still try to get in an evening walk each night. It was never really something that I liked to do. I was always active in sports through college, but once the coaching staff was gone, it was hard to motivate myself. Now it is hard to go an evening without some type of walk or hike. Not only is it a great opportunity to talk with my wife at the end of the day, but it keeps my body in a shape other than round as well.

One of Iowa's own, and some of the most recognizable names in classic rock have teamed up, and they're bringing their super show to the Quad Cities.
