Amarillo is full of great restaurants, and every new one gives us another choice in dining. In June 2025, we shared with you that a new dining experience was coming to Route 66, and we have an opening date. Maestro Taquero Bar & Grill will be open to the public on Saturday, July 18. The restaurant is located at 3121 SW 6th Street on historic Route 66. Maestro completely remodeled the old Austin's Pub and is now offering a unique dining experience on historic Route 66.

Let's face it. Summer in Texas can be downright brutal. One minute you're enjoying a beautiful day outdoors, and the next you're questioning every life decision that led you to standing in a parking lot when it's 105 degrees outside. That's why I'm a big fan of Texas State Parks.

When I think of crimes that were completely and tragically senseless and avoidable, I, of course, think of the murder of Sarah Alice Morgan. But to be honest, I only now know her name, and I think I may not have known she was female (adding another layer of discomfort for me, as a woman). Those of us who grew up in Lubbock and/or attended Texas Tech have heard hints and whispers of her murder, but what's the real story?

Nope, NOT El Paso, (at least not in the top 40 anyway), we're too chill for that. San Antonio is the most stressed Texas city, just making the top 20, at #20. Texas is, (overall, I guess), pretty mellow in terms of stress. We did make the "most stressed" list but avoided the top 20. (Except San Antonio.) No other Texas city pops up until you hit the 30's and El Paso is in the 40's - #45 to be exact Wallethub just released a list of the most stressed cities in the USA and Texas had a fair showing.

(Houston, Texas) - Texas Department of Public Safety has updated their list of the most wanted fugitives in Texas. These men are wanted for murder, sexual assault, robbery and many other crimes. Each man has their own reward that ranges from $3,000 to $7,500. One fugitive has a $30,000 reward for his alleged murder of a Texas government official. Unfortunately, he is believed to have crossed into Mexico. This makes him hard to find and capture then brought back to Texas to face a trial.

(Austin, Texas) - A majority of us Texans love to be outside, especially during the spring and summer months. While lots of people associate beer and whiskey as the alcohol they think of when they think about Texas, there is so much more to choose from here in the Lone Star State. We have some amazing distilleries that are producing massive amounts of alcohol that are distributed all over the world. There are also some fantastic breweries that make really good beer. But there is more; there are tons of great wineries all over the state of Texas too.

TEXAS -- A restaurant that got its start right here in Texas has been named America's fastest-growing restaurant chain by QSR Magazine. Wingstop added 382 new locations in the U.S. last year, more than any other quick-service restaurant, including Chipotle, Jersey Mike's, and Starbucks, according to Chron. To be honest, if someone had asked me to guess the fastest-growing restaurant in the U.S., Wingstop probably wouldn't have been my first response, despite how much I enjoy their food.
