We love hearing about our Texas Panhandle towns expanding with business. As much as we love hearing about new businesses opening in Amarillo, we also love to share the celebration with other towns. Dumas has been growing quite a bit with new businesses in 2026, and they aren't stopping. Dumas is about to get a new restaurant in town and will make eating Texas' favorite burger more convenient.

The one thing about Amarillo is that it is home to many great restaurants opened by people who live in this great city. The thing about locally owned restaurants is that residents fall in love with and support these restaurants for years and even decades, and when you hear about the possibility of one of these restaurants closing, it sends sadness through your heart. One small comment and message about Youngblood's Cafe sent sadness through my heart.

There have been a lot of calls for the Flock cameras to be removed immediately from the city, and not because people are worried about being caught by the Flock cameras. One of those reasons recently reared its ugly head. It didn't take us very long to see the Flock camera system be misused.

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer. It's the first day away from school the kids get to take and then dive into summer. Unlike Memorial Day, which is a day set aside to remember those who gave their life in the line of duty, Labor Day is a day for laborers in the US. The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City on Tuesday, September 5, 1882.

Here we are gearing up for Labor Day weekend; many Texans will be hitting the road, while others will be staying at home. Most people will be staying at home instead of taking their Labor Day trips because of gas prices, and unfortunately, gas prices surge before the holiday weekend. According to AAA Texas, gas prices in Texas are now $3.69 per gallon of regular unleaded. It jumped 9 cents from last week. El Paso is still paying the most in the Lone Star State at $3.97 per gallon.
