We've had plenty of players from Amarillo go on to do big things in professional sports, and we've had others who have just been passing through in their journey. It was just yesterday that we broke down the saga at Texas Tech regarding quarterback Brendan Sorsby. As of yesterday, the Red Raiders would be going to battle with Sorsby as QB1. Then just that fast, Tech was out a quarterback. It's been one of the most fascinating stories we've seen in the Texas Panhandle in a while regarding sports. Caught gambling on a ton of football games, the NCAA suspended him. He fought it. He won...temporarily. Now, it appears Sorsby has said enough.

Yesterday, we mentioned how Bell Textron in Amarillo laid off approximately 30 employees prior to the weekend. Sadly, this is something that is becoming common across the board with companies, big or small. The economy isn't in the best shape, and companies are looking for ways to cut costs and stay afloat. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of jobs, and people find themselves having to find a new job and find it quickly.
