The 2026 City Pulse study from the Gensler Research Institute found that 33% of residents go there just because they want to, which doubles the national average of 16%. The study asked residents across 75 cities in 30 countries. Data came from over 140,000 people since 2020.

Michigan residents aged 18 and older can visit the Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit's Madison Heights warehouse and pay $30 for up to three pieces of furniture. Participants then take the pieces home and, using their own materials and labor, transform them into creative, useful furniture. Detroit Sandwich Party hits Eastern Market on Sunday, Sept. 6 for its third year. Carlos Parisi, Will McDowell, and Bekah Galang put together this free festival. Detroit City FC Secures Record Investment From Former Rocket Mortgage CEO
Jay Farner made the biggest single investment in Detroit City FC's history. Farner founded Ronin Capital Partners and once led Rocket Companies as CEO. He put money into the team through Ronin Sports & Entertainment Group. The amount wasn't shared. Funds will go toward building the team's $150 million stadium and backing a $200 million mixed-use project in southwest Detroit. Farner joined the DCFC Holdings board. This investment will help construct AlumniFi Field, a 15,000-seat soccer stadium.
Metro Detroit SMART Deploys Cooling Buses for Residents Amid Extreme Heat Wave
The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation will roll out air-conditioned buses at six spots across metro Detroit. Starting today, the service runs through Friday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Buses appear when temperatures hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. The cooling buses offer free spaces.
