MORRICE — One hundred fifty years ago, most homes lacked indoor plumbing, Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone, the United States celebrated its 100th birthday in Philadelphia and a contentious presidential election saw Ohio Republican Rutherford B. Hayes assume office early the next year. In Shiawassee County, 1876 saw the founding of the village of Morrice.
Upcycle Art in the Park Awards Celebration Set for Sept. 27
OWOSSO — The public is invited to join the Shiawassee Arts Center for the 2026 Upcycle Art in the Park Awards Celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Shiawassee Arts Center in Curwood Castle Park in downtown Owosso. The celebration will recognize the Michigan artists who participated in this year’s Upcycle Art in the Park exhibition, transforming discarded, recycled and found materials into imaginative works of sculpture.
