A season of growth
I’d had a solid career in tournament fishing before joining the Progressive Bassmaster Elite Series last year, but the start of my first season on the Elites was brutal. I missed the cut in the first five tournaments I fished before closing out the year with four in a row. I ended the season with solid momentum leading into 2026, and it felt good to have confidence back out on the water. Furthermore, that rough Elite beginning made me realize more than ever that my life was off kilter.

Big bass of the St. Lawrence River 2026
It was the greatest smallmouth tournament in B.A.S.S. history and perhaps the best season finale ever. The Lowrance Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River had brutes, behemoth bags, belts and battles to the bitter end. Take a look at the big bass. Century Belt totals of 100 pounds have been reached in the past three St. Lawrence events, and many believed the best total would be surpassed.
Long runs, big rewards
It’s no rarity to see tournament competitors staying close and targeting release fish, but while there’s no shame in that game, fans of the sport treasure the tales of intrepid anglers making a specific run to a specific spot with the steadfast belief in the expected rewards. That might be a mother lode scenario, it might be a couple key bites or it could be a one-fish gamble with day-making potential.
Big win on a new lure
Ever since I qualified to fish the Progressive Bassmaster Elite Series through the 2024 Bassmaster Opens, the St. Lawrence River was the event I most looked forward to fishing. My first year on the Elites, I was kinda disappointed when St. Lawrence wasn’t on the schedule, so I was super excited to see it on this year’s lineup. I grew up in Pickering, Ontario, which is about two hours west of Kingston, at the mouth of the St. Lawrence.
