Reel Beach: Beacher Miku Martineau takes the lead on Netflix’s Crew Girl
Miku Martineau, who grew up the Beach, is starring the Netflix Young Adult drama series Crew Girl. By BERNIE FLETCHER The Beacher Café is a landmark eatery on Queen Street East serving our community for more than 40 years. You may know the Martineau family who have owned and operated the popular restaurant since 1999. The youngest Martineau, Miku, is making a name for herself playing the lead in the hit YA (Young Adult) eight-episode sports drama Crew Girl now streaming on Netflix.

The third annual walk through the Beach neighbourhood and along the Boardwalk is slated for the night of Thursday, Oct. 22.

Inspector at Toronto police’s 55 Division faces impaired operation charges

A high-ranking officer from the Toronto police’s 55 Division on Coxwell Avenue has been charged in connection with an alleged impaired operation incident early this week. CP24 News first reported the story on Monday. According to a police statement, officers were sent to the area of Eglinton Avenue and Laird Drive in Leaside at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.
