New Delhi: Zinc prices fell Rs 2.70 to Rs 377 per kg in futures trade as speculators reduced their exposure, tracking negative cues in the spot market. Zinc contracts for August delivery slipped 0.71 per cent in 387 lots. Analysts said the trimming of positions by participants, owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly weighed on zinc prices.
Suzlon Energy shares tumble nearly 10% post earnings
New Delhi: Shares of Suzlon Energy tumbled nearly 10 per cent after the firm reported nearly 6 per cent fall in profit for the June quarter. The stock tanked 9.63 per cent to end at Rs 48.03 on the BSE. During the day, it dropped 9.99 per cent to Rs 47.84. At the NSE, the stock ended at Rs 48.02, down 9.65 per cent. The company's market valuation eroded Rs 7,031.66 crore to Rs 66,011.30 crore.
Listed debt entities must list transferred unlisted
Mumbai: Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has clarified that listed debt entities taking over outstanding unlisted non-convertible debentures (NCDs) as part of a corporate restructuring or business transfer cannot avoid mandatory listing requirements merely because no fresh debentures have been issued.
Govt gives nod to RBI for field trials of polymer currency notes
New Delhi: The Finance Ministry informed Parliament on Monday that the government has approved the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) proposal to conduct field trials of polymer currency notes in the Rs 10 and Rs 20 denominations. The approval was confirmed by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. The government, however, clarified that the move does not signal the end of paper currency.
