Saturday evening marked the conclusion of the two-day AI NEXTGEN America Conference, hosted by Career Communications Group and the University of Maryland Global Campus. World Wide Technology was the sponsor of the awards ceremony. The ceremony recognized achievements in artificial intelligence, responsible AI, robotics, quantum computing, and emerging technologies. Panelist Todd Frech, associate director at Adaptive Biotechnologies and a healthcare practitioner with over 40 years of experience, discussed his work in AI governance and accountability, particularly in healthcare diagnostics.

As AI education continues to develop, universities highlighted mathematics, ethics, and workforce readiness at Career Communications Group’s AI NEXTGEN America Conference in Baltimore. A computer science professor at Morgan State University emphasized the importance of developing a strong mathematical foundation for those studying artificial intelligence.

At the AI NEXTGEN America Conference, Kwan Hurst, chief operating officer of Career Communications Group, introduced Michael Boyce, the State of Maryland’s senior advisor for Responsible Artificial Intelligence. He was appointed in June 2026 to guide the state’s responsible deployment of AI across government services, the economy, and the workforce.

AI NEXTGEN America has commenced in Baltimore, with Maryland State Senator Cory McCray participating in the session, “Powering the AI Economy: Energy, Infrastructure and Maryland’s Competitive Advantage.” As artificial intelligence advances, robust infrastructure will be essential for regional leadership. Senator McCray discussed Maryland’s strengths and future opportunities as the state adapts to an AI-driven economy.
