The following is the exact profile that I wrote for the Dallas Morning News on March 15, 2016, of Alabama’s RB Derrick Henry in the build-up to the 2016 NFL Draft for the Sturm 60. Here is what I wrote in my report on that day. When we examine the draft each year, we are looking for players who fit in a given template. The idea is that if a guy fits the profile of a certain position, he gives himself a chance to be that player at the next level.

Every week, we will spend an entire day reviewing the Cowboys defensive performance in the latest game. We will do it with numbers and with film and will try to figure out what led to the successes or the failures of that side of the ball. We call it the Parker Report in 2026 for obvious reasons. We would like to welcome you to a week of Dallas Cowboys football where the sky appears to not be falling quite as fast and as hard as it was. The Cowboys have won a football game and did so with some relatively easy coasting down the stretch. They did not need a whole lot of drama or magic to secure the first victory of the season by beating Washington, 37-20. In fact, you might find that the victory seemed to follow the recipe of what a young team with a poor defense might require. It makes sense.

I realize it was just last week we were documenting how the Cowboys have seldom had issues with the New York Giants in our preview piece and it surely did not really matter once the game began. There is no doubt that for a decade straight Dallas had dominated the Giants and yet the Giants had an easy win in the opener to send the Cowboys reeling to 0-1.

One game in, and the Cowboys are already testing everyone’s patience. George Dunham and Bob Sturm break down the 28–20 loss to the Giants, from familiar run-defense problems and blown coverages to Dak Prescott’s costly interception and George Pickens’ drops. How much patience does Christian Parker’s new defense deserve, and how much more should Dallas demand from its offense?

I cannot tell you how badly we hoped the debut of the all-new Dallas Cowboys would go smoother than it did last night. Here at #Sturmstack, we do not cheer in the press box, but we obviously want this sports escape to be enjoyable for all involved who love this franchise (or once did, anyway). We want the fans to look forward to games and weeks because it is fun to have things in our life that are fun. We certainly hoped for a little fun with the return of the games that matter most.

Ok, quick story that you might not care about before I begin this recap: I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to write anything about the college football games of huge interest this fall and spent much of yesterday in a twisted knot attempting to deal with that reality.
