It’s almost 1 a.m. as I start writing this, having just gotten home from doing something I’m pretty sure has never been done before: a USMNT World Cup postgame show on The Ticket after a 4-1 win. Wow. That was so much fun to do with Andy and Lars, and for you, the P1.

Well, here we are. Happy World Cup, everyone. Forty days from now we’ll have a champion. Between now and then, I’ll be dropping a little World Cup peanut butter into Bob’s NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB chocolate each morning and we’ll see where it takes us. Match Day 1 Opening games of the World Cup tend to be somewhat of a let down. After all the hype, you're often launching the tournament with a match that isn't especially high-profile or particularly good. This was both of those.

The World Cup is here and we’re about to find out the answers to many of the questions we all have been carrying for the last 18 months.
