The Los Angeles Chargers are hinging quite a bit on the successful implementation of Mike McDaniel's offensive scheme in 2026. Of course, his outside-zone run game and YAC-centric air attack will require major tweaks to the offense, and those have been undertaken consistently throughout training camp and the preseason. Justin Herbert has reworked his shotgun stance, and the existing receiving corps has been reworked to prioritize athleticism and speed in the open field.

Last Thursday was the first time where most of the Chargers starting offensive line played together in a real game. Despite Rashawn Slater not playing, Joe Alt, Kayode Awosika, Jake Slaughter, and Cole Strange were all out there. Out of all the Chargers interior offensive linemen in the game, Strange graded the lowest at a 40.5 PFF offensive grade. Strange allowed a pressure on his six pass blocking snaps and had a few plays where he lost leverage vs. San Francisco's defensive line.

The Los Angeles Chargers have plenty of roster decisions to make between now and Aug. 30. But needless to say, everyone's eyes will be on their ongoing battle for the starting left guard battle.

Trey Pipkins is the proverbial Thanos for the LA Chargers. No matter what the Chargers do, all of their failures lead the team straight back to relying on Pipkins as a starting offensive lineman. Despite having the most cap space in the NFL this past offseason, the Chargers took a modest approach to filling out the horrendous offensive line room and it's already being stress-tested.

The Los Angeles Chargers made a painful decision this offseason. Although veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen evidently wanted to continue his career, they ultimately opted not to bring him back as a late offseason signing. Allen went to the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year deal worth up to $8.32 million, and he'll get a chance there to play a major role in their offense. On the surface, moving on from Allen may have been an ill-advised move.

Chris O'Leary noted that Bud Dupree has been among the risers in training camp. That could have major implications when the 53-man roster takes shape this week. The Los Angeles Chargers, to this point in the preseason, haven't had much to be inspired about in their quarterback room. We can set to the side the starters' lone, three-and-out drive against the San Francisco 49ers. The main object of focus, right now, should be on if there's enough confidence in either Trey Lance or DJ Uiagalelei to take significant snaps during the regular season if they're called upon. The answer should be no at this point.

The Los Angeles Chargers have many of their roster decisions cut out for them as they enter the final week of camp. Does Bud Dupree or Kyle Kennard go if Nadame Tucker is a roster lock in the OLB room? Who takes over the final one or two spots along the offensive line that have suddenly been opened by the injury to Tyler Biadasz? Have Junior Colson or Derius Davis done enough to defend their places? But there's somewhat less clarity in the secondary.

Fans of the Los Angeles Chargers have had a few days now to acclimate themselves to the news of the injury to starting center Tyler Biadasz. After Biadasz went down with an apparent knee injury in joint practice last week against the San Francisco 49ers, though, there was still a sliver of hope. Although he was carted off the field, there was a chance, albeit a minor one, that he had simply suffered a sprain or non season-ending damage to either his MCL or his ACL.

The Los Angeles Chargers' rookie class has looked promising through three weeks of training camp. Akheem Mesidor has brought effort and consistency to virtually every practice—he's been the first one the field, and he's been willing to take on his role alongside Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu headfirst.
