Frederik Breuer ('25) and Leonard Brahms ('25) will compete for Germany, with Breuer set for the men's 8+ while Brahms will feature in both the men's pair and mixed 8+ events. Breuer has returned to the international stage this summer for the first time since his 2024 Paris Olympics appearance in which he helped Germany's men's eight to a fourth-place finish.

Rising junior Olivia Roth will compete for Switzerland in the women's pair. This will be Roth's second-consecutive appearance at senior worlds after competing in the Swiss quadruple sculls entry. Roth has made an impression in her first two seasons in Berkeley, most recently helping Cal's varsity eight win bronze at the 2026 ACC Championships and finish second in the petite final at the NCAA Championship.

Mike Neu. Ralston, who began his coaching career at Cal in 1990 as the Golden Bears' infield coach, returns to Berkeley with 35 years of experience having taught baseball at every level of the sport. He most recently served as the head coach of Los Medanos College in 2026 following a stint as the skipper for the Bellingham Bells in 2024, where he led the collegiate summer league team to a 32-22 overall record with a North Division title game appearance.

The Bears and Waves went into halftime scoreless after a defensive opening 45 minutes. Cal recorded five shots, including one on goal, while goalkeeper Alyssa Savig made three key saves to preserve the 0-0 score heading into the break.

The California women's golf team will be a well-traveled bunch during the fall then will stay close to home during the spring, according to the 2026-27 schedule that was announced Thursday. The Golden Bears open the campaign Sept. 21-22 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University of Kentucky and will travel to the Midwest later for the Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational, hosted by the University of Kansas.

California defensive back Isaiah Crosby and defensive lineman Nate Burrell have been selected to the 2026 College Football Comeback Player of the Year Pre-Season Watch List. Crosby started in all four games he played in during the 2025 season before a season-ending injury at San Diego State. In those four games, he made 17 tackles, defended three passes and added a tackle for loss. Burrell, who missed the entirety of the 2025 season due to injury, last saw action for the Golden Bears in 2024.

California senior wide receiver Chase Hendricks has been named to the 2026 Senior Bowl Top 300 list, it was announced on Thursday morning. Hendricks is in his first season with the Golden Bears after transferring from Ohio. Last season, Hendricks started all 13 games for the Bobcats where he tallied 1,037 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns, becoming the fourth Bobcat in program history to log 1,000-plus yards in a single season.

California quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele has been named to the preseason watch list for Davey O'Brien Award. The 30-player Davey O'Brien Quarterback Class of 2026 will be announced on November 10, with semifinalists named on November 17. The Foundation will announce the three finalists on November 24. The 2026 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on December 11 during The Home Depot College Football Awards.

Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, AJ Tuitele and Sioape Vatikani – have been named to the 2026 Polynesian College Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, announced Thursday morning by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame organization. The award is presented to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry who epitomizes great ability and integrity. The full preseason watch list includes 68 players from 35 different NCAA Division I programs.
