Olympic hopeful Erik Arvidsson said he thought his competitive skiing career was over. “It was just so shocking, heartbreaking and devastating the way it happened,” he told The Examiner. “When I retire, I just want to know that I gave every ounce I had to the sport. And I just knew that I couldn’t go out that way.” In the end, Arvidsson said, he didn’t spend much time considering whether to call it quits. After an aggressive rehab, he returned to competitive skiing in August.
