H OLTVILLE - For nearly three quarters Friday night, Sept. 4, Holtville had Yuma Catholic High right where the Vikings wanted them, but the Shamrocks made the plays when it mattered most. Yuma Catholic scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 28-17 victory over Holtville at Birger Field, handing the Vikings their first loss of the season and avenging a 38-30 defeat to Holtville a year ago in Yuma.

B RAWLEY - Phil Swing's students and their families were treated to a fun time during their annual back-to-school night, held this year on Thursday, Sept. 3. The school is gearing up for an exciting academic year, led by new principal Ana Murphy, who is eager to support the community in any way she can. Murphy has a background in curriculum and instruction, and has previously worked as a teacher.

E L CENTRO - On Friday, Sept. 4, the El Centro Police Department received information from the San Diego and Imperial County Joint Terrorism Task Force regarding reported threats involving Central Union High School. ECPD personnel immediately began working with school officials and law enforcement partners to assess the circumstances and ensure the safety of students, staff, and the surrounding community.

C ALEXICO - Lifelong Calexico resident, Gilberto Manzanarez, has been appointed as the city of Calexico's representative to serve on the Imperial County Data Center Advisory Committee. The appointment occurred during the Calexico City Council's regular meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 2, where the council also conducted a public hearing regarding a proposed ordinance prohibiting data centers in the city.

On Saturday, November 8, the Calexico High School NJROTC program competed in the Sempre Fi Aerial Drone Tournament at Troy High School in Fullerton, California. The event, hosted by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF), is part of the Aerial Drone Competition series, which gives students hands-on experience in drone piloting, programming, and STEM-based problem-solving.

CALIPATRIA - North Star Treasures, un nuevo espacio comercial colaborativo, abrió oficialmente sus puertas al público el viernes 28 de agosto.
