CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Lane Vaughan made a big statement at the 130th edition of Cheyenne Frontier Days on Saturday. The bull rider from Klamath Falls, Oregon, has ridden both of his bulls and been at the top of the leaderboard during the first two performances. And, on Saturday, he was the only bull rider that was successful, so the 21-year-old earned all the prize money. So far, he has collected over $8,000 here.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department inspects restaurants, bars, convenience stores, delis, grocery stores, bed and breakfasts and more. Every facility has an unannounced inspection at least twice a year. According to the department, there are two types of violations: “red critical violations” and “black violations.” Critical violations are violations that are most likely to cause a foodborne illness and make someone sick.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department recently announced that it is asking anglers to help protect two of southeast Wyoming’s blue ribbon trout fisheries, by adjusting their fishing practices in the summer heat.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Department of Justice recently announced that a felon with “a long history of drug and firearm convictions will spend 10 years in federal prison on related charges.” A release from the Department says that Alfred Lee Apodaca, 72, of Riverton, Wyoming was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison with five years of supervised release to follow for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Office of the Laramie County Clerk recently announced that Wyoming’s Primary Election Day is August 18, but voters may cast their ballots early, beginning July 21. That’s when the Laramie County Clerk opens the polling place in the atrium of the county building, located at 309 W. 20th Street in Cheyenne. Clerk Debra Lee said that the atrium polling site will be open to votes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 21 through August 17, except for county holidays.

Yandel Andres Gonzalez: 2011 – 2026 The family of Yandel Andres Gonzalez, age 15, is deeply saddened to share that he passed away on July 11, 2026. Born on April 14, 2011, in New Mexico, Yandel moved with his family from Texas and Greeley to Cheyenne in 2019, where he quickly became known as a friendly, loving, and fiercely loyal young man. Yandel lived life with the heart of an athlete. If he wasn’t on the court, he was on the field; if he wasn’t on the field, he was on the mat or in the ring.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Every summer the city of Cheyenne holds a parade to celebrate the first day of Frontier Days, with this year being no different. The parade was packed with people alongside the streets of downtown, all watching new and old floats alike march down the street. Similar parades will be held from 9 to 10:30am on July 21, 23, and 25.

Kevin Lewis, an investigator for the law firm, Lichter Immigration, confirmed that he had received a thumb drive with the footage, but said he had not viewed it yet.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A prolonged stretch of intense heat will soon give way to a significant pattern change across southeast Wyoming, bringing a Heat Advisory, a sharp cooldown, and much-needed monsoonal rain to Laramie County. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a firm upper-level ridge of high pressure will maintain hot, dry, and breezy conditions through the weekend.
