CHEYENNE, Wyo. — After a two-month long process, the Cheyenne City Council passed a series of ordinances July 13 to annex and zone a 3,500-acre addition that Microsoft purchased for a data center. Throughout the ordinances’ journey, a sect of locals have pushed back in any way they could and are now calling for a referendum. “This is the lowest form of government backed up by the constitution,” M. Lee Hasenauer, candidate for Laramie County Commission, said.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The city of Cheyenne has announced that several city facilities and offices will have modified schedules for Cheyenne Day on Wednesday, July 22. City offices will be closed Wednesday, along with the the BEAST Facility, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Grand Conservatory, the Paul Smith Children’s Village and the Cheyenne Transit Program offices. Buses will not run. Many other facilities will have altered schedules.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Meta’s data center project, now known to be the source of a systemwide contamination of Cheyenne’s wastewater, was one of the first industrial users tested by the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities after staff first observed a rare bacteria during winter sampling. Other city departments and staff weren’t notified until late March.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The City of Cheyenne’s Public Services Committee will meet Monday to discuss the proposed annexation and zoning of a 34-acre lot to be added to the North Range Business Park and a planned subdivision of 91-acre parcel. The committee is set to meet at noon today in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, located at 2101 O’Neil Ave. The public can also access the meeting remotely via Zoom or telephone.

By Cheyenne Frontier Days CFD kicks off the first of its three free pancake breakfasts on Monday at the Cheyenne Depot — another showcase of the Cheyenne volunteer spirit. The Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne, CFD, Cheyenne’s Boy and Girl Scouts and community members join forces to serve up more than 100,000 flapjacks, cooked right on military ranges. The breakfast doubles as a Kiwanis emergency drill, sharpening the club’s ability to feed large crowds during disasters.

CHEYENNNE, Wyo. — Double-digit price hikes have been seen at gas pumps around the nation, and Laramie County did not escape from it. Surging 21 cents in the last week, Laramie County’s average gas price hit $3.93 per gallon on Monday, AAA reported. That comes alongside a climbing Wyoming average, up 16 cents to $4.02. Meanwhile, the national average rose 12.9 cents to $3.95 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. AAA reported a similar hike of 13 cents, bringing its tracked average to $4.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Closing out a Sunday night, Frontier Park held the Red Clay Strays and Wyatt Flores concert for Frontier Nights, a collection of musical performances starting after 8pm. The evening’s show was sold out, and the stadium of the park was filled with excited concert goers. Cheering equally as loud for both Wyatt Flores and the Red Clay Strays.
