Comprehensive testing of cardiac ligands within the same experiment enables precise identification of ligand-specific response genes, as differential expression analysis of each ligand can be performed versus all other ligands (STAR Methods; Figures 5A and 5B; Table S4). The ligands identified from the key clusters, including the Gαs-stimulating inotropes, endothelin, extracellular matrix regulators, and inflammatory signaling, had the most differentially expressed genes (Figure 5A).
