Local singing duo Dea and Dynne goes international
They are the best of friends since high school at Daniel McIntyre. Dea and Dynne have appeared in local shows and community events in Winnpieg but this is the first time they ventured into a contest. The singing duo is excited to compete in the ABS CBN Music Star Makers International to be held in Los Angeles, California in July 2024. The local Filipino singing duo specializes pop and R&B covers.

Gary Gamble, Director of Operations for Evanov Communications and Adam West, Operations Manager and Program Director lead a simple recognition program earlier today, May 1st, 2024 in honor of Gido Gigliotti , 92.7 FM Program Director, for his service to CKJS for the last 40 years. Apart from his technical, production and supervising duties through the years, Adam described Gido as always the first one to step up.
Winnipeger dreams to be the next Filipino Music Superstar
Flilipino-Canadian 24-year old Ildren Perez, earned a coveted spot to compete in the Star Makers International competition, a global search for exceptionally talented vocal artists and musical performers of Filipino heritage. Ildrin will compete with other aspring singers from all parts of the world that include United States, Australia, New Zealand and Philppines. Major cities in Canada including Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia each also have their representatives.
Local singer Paul Ong vies for Top 25 Canadian Immigrants for 2024
The voting for the 16th annual Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards is now open. Musician, educator and philanthropist Paul Ong needs your support to make it to the list. Paul was named as one of the top 75 finalists from hundreds of submissions throughout Canada and is one of five Winnipeggers on the list. He is is the only candidate in Winnipeg of Filipino heritage. Paul serves as the vice principal at Meadows West School.
Philippine Ambassador to Canada makes first visit to Winnipeg
The demand for Manitoba to finally have its own consular office was one of the primary topics discussed during the open meeting with local leaders. The Philippines currently maintains four diplomatic representative offices in Canada, the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver.
