En 2007, l’accord-cadre sino-singapourien prévoyait d’intégrer l’éco-cité dans une démarche de « conservation des ressources, de protection de l’environnement et d’harmonie sociale », pour « devenir le modèle de développement durable ». Depuis son lancement en 2008, et après 10 ans de construction, 95% du quartier sud a été construit pour accueillir 110 000 habitants.

KTR, groupe industriel allemand spécialisé dans la transmission mécanique, souhaitait, pour son siège français, un bâtiment à l’image de l’entreprise et de ses valeurs : un bâtiment innovant avec d’excellentes conditions de travail pour ses salariés et un bâtiment autonome, notamment sur le plan énergétique. Le groupe avait déjà construit des bâtiments très performants, mais c’est la rénovation qui a été choisie pour le site de Dardilly.
