Search ArticlesThe One Where A Modbus Output is Controlled by Two PLCs
I hate boring technical articles. So today, we’ll mix a Modbus tutorial article with some basic protocol theory and learn why it’s really important to understand client/server relationships when critical equipment is on the line. Figure 1. Modbus: who wins? And who loses? Image used courtesy of Adobe Stock Previously, we described how to drive a Synergy Logic SLM remote I/O system via a CompactLogix PLC, and to our great relief, it was quite simple to implement.
Atomizing Air Booster Motor
Hello, I work at a power plant. A few days ago, our turbine tripped and shut down. After the turbine stopped, I noticed that the Atomizing Air Booster Motor was still running. I expected the motor to stop when the turbine was shut down, so I would like to understand the logic behind this operation. Is it normal for the Atomizing Air Booster Motor to continue running after a turbine trip? What signal or control logic keeps it running?
Mark V HMI CARD_ID.EXE
Hello everyone, Our gas turbine control system on site uses the GE Mark V HMI. It seems that our CARD_ID.EXE is not working properly. When I click the CARD_ID.EXE icon, a window briefly appears and then disappears almost immediately—so quickly that I cannot even see what is displayed in the window. This is my first time using CARD_ID.EXE, so I’m not sure whether the program can be launched simply by double-clicking the program icon, or if there is another way to start it. Thank you for your help.
Non-Nuclear Density Meter For Slurry
JMW, I am writing to address a few of your concerns/observations as 1) they are indeed valid and 2) there have been a few responses via Sciam [salesmen] that haven't directly addressed your points raised. When debuting the DM3 technology, we were very cautious to unveil all of the inner workings as it is such a simple method and we were a relatively unknown company. During each initial conversation with suppliers, re-sellers, and competitors a buy out conversation was offered without fail.
Expected usable life of any 24VDC power supply if continuously being in use in DCS & PLC System
What is expected usable life of any 24VDC power supply if continuously being in use in DCS & PLC System ? Since product datasheets of renowned make power supplies define MTBF more than 3,50,000 to 5,00,000 hrs, but that is not the practical case. Any documented evidence will be helpful.

Lucas Flexible Assembly System for Headlamp Manufacture
Hi. I was the project manager for the above system which was produced at Lucas' Research Centre in Shirley, B'ham in 1987. Before shipment to the Cannock Headlamp Factory, a promotional video was made, that I used as part of my presentation to the British Robotics Association again in 1987. Does anyone know whether a copy of this video still exists? I would love to get hold of a copy for my personal files, if there is a copy out there.. 124.5 KB
