The ZXMoto 820RR-R, an up-spec version of the motorcycle currently impressing in WorldSSP. The Chinese motorcycle industry is coming of age, with a handful of brands ditching the reputation for blatant copycat designs and forging ahead with motorcycles that are starting to be genuinely competitive. ZXMoto might be a relative newcomer, but it’s made more waves than most with a string of WorldSSP wins this year. Now, it’s launched its most powerful streetbike yet.

The upcoming Suzuki GSX250R. Evidence is mounting that Suzuki is about to launch a substantially revised version of its entry-level GSX250R sportbike, complete with winglets and a parallel-twin engine with variable valve timing. We scooped the updated VVT engine back in 2024 when Suzuki filed patent applications. Now type-approvals in China, where the GSX250R is manufactured via a joint venture with Chinese brand Haojue, suggest it’s ready for launch.

Triumph’s 2026 Trident 800 fills a gap between the entry-level Trident 660 and racy Street Triple 765. The Trident name carries real historical weight for Triumph. But “Trident” has moved from an early superbike to an entry-level roadster though stops and starts over the course of nearly 60 years. Now there’s the 2026 Trident 800, renewing the three-cylinder formula to offer a less aggressively styled yet still sporty roadster that is much more than just an entry-level English triple.

Yamaha will exclusively supply motorcycles for Moto3 beginning 2028 using a bespoke chassis and a CP2-based engine. Beginning 2028, Yamaha will be the exclusive motorcycle supplier for the Moto3 world championship, producing a new racing motorcycle based around its 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine. “Our objective was to create a platform capable of supporting riders, teams, and championships for many years to come,” Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha Motor Racing managing director, says.

Patent filings and spy shots suggest that a non-V-twin Moto Guzzi is on the way powered by the same parallel twin used in Apilia’s 457 models. In January, 2024, Cycle World published spy photos of a lashed-together prototype built around Aprilia’s 457cc parallel-twin engine, as used in the RS 457 and Tuono 457. We concluded at the time that it must be an upcoming Moto Guzzi model, and more than two years later, it looks like our suspicions have been confirmed.

Luca Marini joined Honda HRC Castrol at its lowest point in MotoGP. Even so, Marini doesn't shy away from the challenge. The Honda HRC Castrol team is beginning to see initial results of a long process of internal reorganization and development.
