FORT RECOVERY- A Fort Recovery Girl Scout is helping preserve her hometown's history by adding QR codes to nearly 40 building plaques throughout the village. In her pursuit of the Girl Scout Gold Award, high school junior Cora Pearson added QR codes to 39 recently installed plaques on historic buildings throughout Fort Recovery.

Fr. David Zink, age 80, of Carthagena, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the St. Charles Seminary. He was born on April 24, 1946 in Dayton to the late Roy & Janice Zink. Fr. Zink was ordained on June 6, 1990. He received his first assignment as Associate Pastor of St. Helen in Dayton on June 26, 1990 before becoming a temporary administrator in 1992.

Janet Ruth Markey, 98, of Celina and formerly of Coldwater, died Aug. 31 at the Gardens of Celina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 4227 State Route 707, Rockford, with Father Rob Muhlenkamp officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 3133 U.S. Route 33, Rockford. Memorial contributions in Janet's name may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
