Indonesian mobile carrier PT Telkom Indonesia (Telkom) has completed its $4.8 billion infrastructure spin-off. The company announced the completion of the second and final phase of its spin-off of InfraCo late last week, transferring its remaining network infrastructure assets to its subsidiary, InfraNexia. The first phase of the spin-off was completed back in January, when the carried transferred 50 percent of its fiber assets to InfraNexia.

Google has launched a new initiative, offering more than $6 million in funding to companies at the cutting edge of the carbon removal and superpollutant sectors. The 2026 Google Carbon Removal and Superpollutant Elimination R&D Awards will target "critical scientific bottlenecks to unlock carbon removal at the gigaton scale and superpollutant abatement at the megaton scale," said Reilly O'Hara, senior program manager of carbon removal at Google.

A real estate firm is planning to develop a data center in Oakland, California. First reported by BizJournal, real estate firm Behring Cos. is planning to convert 415 20th Street into a 20MW data center. The four-story facility was once a supercomputer facility for the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, known as the Oakland Scientific Facility, but is now vacant. Currently offering 4.5MW, Behring said it is renovating the site and boosting its power offering to be used for dense AI compute.

California-based investment firm Landmark Dividend has acquired a T-Mobile data center located in Jacksonville, Florida. In an $8.1 million deal earlier this month, Landmark bought the 32,945 sq ft (3,060 sqm) facility located at 7025 Skinner Parkway in Duval County, Florida. The facility is leased by wireless network operator T-Mobile, a part of the Deutsche Telekom Group, which holds a 52.8 percent stake in the company.

Data center demand has exceeded expectations in the first half of 2026 in North America, with hyperscaler-driven growth pushing absorption to a record 25GW, according to JLL. In its midyear 2026 North America Data Center Report, the commercial real estate services firm said that data center demand in North America doubled year-over-year in H1 2026, as companies compete for "scarce" capacity.

A tower technician was rescued from a broadcast tower in Rockford, Illinois, on Monday (August 10) afternoon after suffering from a dehydration-related medical emergency. WTVO reported that the climber was working on a tower at WTVO-TV/WQRF-TV, when he needed rescuing at 275 feet (83 meters) above the ground. The climber was carrying out a routine equipment inspection of the tower when he began experiencing a medical issue, reported to be dehydration.
