On July 7, 2026, deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division responded to a residence on the 100 Block of Haven Hill Road, in Lexington, North Carolina, in reference to animals living in unsanitary conditions. A search warrant was executed the morning of July 8, 2026, where (9) cats and (1) dog were seized. Lawanda Holland, Lelia Dunn, and Christopher Leonard were taken into custody.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Lexington Police Department has concluded its investigation into the July 6 crash on South Main Street involving a Davidson County EMS truck, in which Lorri Suggs was killed. With this, the investigations into both traffic crashes that occurred that afternoon are now complete. As part of concluding the investigation, Lexington Police investigators consulted with the Davidson County District Attorney's Office on their findings.

On Monday July 6, 2026, Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) appeared before the Davidson County Grand Jury in reference to the murder of Michael Steven Allen, 44-year-old male, Lexington, that occurred in April of 2026. The Grand Jury signed a true bill of indictment for Maleigha Loale Allen, 20-year-old-female, Lexington, for first degree murder.
