Last week as the Republican Party held a 14-hour Midterm election extravaganza Fox News, the network most closely aligned with the president and the GOP, downplayed the event. Instead of focusing its cameras on the speakers who appeared live onstage at the convention the network spent most of its airtime on a luxury box at the American Airlines Center. There in a makeshift television studio Fox News hosts, popular Republican lawmakers, podcasters and pundits discussed the midterm election.

This is my analysis of the second day of the footage most Fox News viewers didn’t see from he Midterm Convention. Day One from the same event can be found here. I noticed as I went through the Fox News coverage of the Midterm Convention that the network barely showed footage from the event. Fox News spent most of its airtime last week with popular Republican lawmakers or pundits talking about the event rather than showing the convention itself.

Normally when Fox News covers a Republican Party convention they reserve two large luxury boxes at the stadium and bring nearly everyone from the network. Fox News hosts brag that they have the largest crew of any news team at the event. The network treats the event like the Super Bowl of politics. This time things were different. I knew something was off after the first hour of coverage which was hosted by Will Cain from Dallas, Texas inside the American Airlines Center.

Every now and then I see cracks in the matrix of the well-formed Fox News propaganda apparatus. President Trump’s many manic social media posts, the failing war in Iran and his rapidly sinking poll numbers are all taking their toll on the network.

Yesterday long-time Fox News host Maria Bartiromo was fired from Fox News/Fox Business after 12 years with the network.
