LITTLE ROCK – Today, the Arkansas Legislative Council (ALC) Administrative Rules Subcommittee approved updated Education Freedom Account (EFA) rules that strengthen accountability, protect taxpayer dollars and ensure the program remains focused on its most important purpose: helping Arkansas children receive a quality education.

Washington, – On the heels of President Donald J. Trump signing an Executive Order advancing regenerative agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke L. Rollins simultaneously announced a final Regenerative Feedstock Rule, a landmark action that will help farmers voluntarily capture new value from regenerative agricultural practices through biofuel markets.

AgHeritage Farm Credit Services has announced the results of its 2026 Board of Director and Nominating Committee elections. Charles “Jeff” Reeves (Central Region) of McCrory was elected to his first 4-year term. Reeves farms rice and soybeans on 2,167 acres owned and 90 acres rented. He is a former AgHeritage Nominating Committee Alternate and a former board member of Arkansas Certified Crop Consultants.

What is it about excuses that we become so good at ? When God is calling us to teach a Sunday School class, why do we think that we’re not smart enough. We’re too young to go on a mission trip or too old to participate in Vacation Bible School.

While many families spent the Fourth of July gathered around backyard grills, traveling to reunions, or enjoying well-earned vacations, one local business chose to make sure no one at Forest Manor Assisted Living was forgotten. Several of the students who were able to participate in Girls and State came to the recent Rotary weekend to thank the club for helping finance their attendance. Julie Landrum, who helps coordinate  the participation of SHS students through the American Legion Auxiliary at Daniel Harder Post 48 in Stuttgart, spoke to the club about the importance of the program. Landrum said 12 girls and 10 boys participated.

In all likelihood, I’m gonna come across as a cranky old man in this column, but that’s OK because I am one. What in the hell is with all these children riding motorized vehicles around town? Not a single one of these things has a plate signifying that it’s meant to ride on the streets, nor do any of these children seem to know or respect rules of the road. None of them stop for stop signs which is eventually going to catch up to one of them when they zip past and straight into an oncoming vehicle.
