Sewer problems have been an issue for the area of Colesburg but that could come to an end soon. The city of Burns Town Council brought up the issue in its Aug. 17 meeting, where Mayor Daryl Lee “Rusty” Grove spoke on the matter of an approval for a new sewer project in connection with the public sewer of Burns with the Water Authority of Dickson County. “We’re at their mercy. This subdivision hopefully will give them enough authority. I mean, it’s an expensive project for the water authority.

James Baker, 37, of Dickson, pleaded guilty on July 27 to receipt of child pornography, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Braden H. Boucek for the Middle District of Tennessee. According to court documents, in August 2024, the FBI received information that Baker was communicating through the social media application Kik with an undercover law enforcement employee who was posing as the father of an 11-year-old girl.

Danny Williams wins Dickson County mayor’s race. GLENDA SULLIVAN Danny Williams won the Dickson County mayor’s race Thursday night, capturing 5,779 votes to defeat four rivals. He will take over the office as Mayor Bob Rial, who served 16 years, chose not to run for reelection. Williams, a county commissioner and former mayor of White Bluff, ran as a Republican.

Each local school board must adopt an implementation plan by Aug. 1.
