Live cattle futures posted gains of $1.05 to $1.42 last week, as nearby October was down 20 cents. Open interest was up 722 contracts on Friday. The nearby contract still held on for a $2.95 gain last week. Cash trade was reported at $345-350 dressed in the North, with $222-223 live sales. Feeder cattle futures saw strength to close the week, with contracts $1.17 to $3.90 higher at the close. October was $11.425 higher last week. OI roase 1,117 contracts on Friday, suggesting new longs were coming in.

Analysts have hiked price targets for Palo Alto Networks (PANW) stock. In a prior article, I showed that a short-put PANW play works well. Another play for investors with limited capital is a PANW bull put credit spread. This play offers high expected returns, although risks are higher as well. PANW closed at $374.74 on Friday. It's down from a recent peak of $393.30 (Sept. 23), but well up from its Sept. 11 low of $330.65. That was after the cybersecurity company's Sept. 1 fiscal Q4 earnings release.

December closed the week with a 156 point gain. Crude oil was down $2.17 per barrel on the session, with the US dollar index $0.253 lower. Following last week’s US/China meeting, China dropped tariffs on several US goods, but left cotton off the list.
