That is why Food Gatherers is providing grab and go meals for from June 16 until April 14. “By offering Grab and Go Meals, we hope to help more children and families get the nutrition they need to have a fun, healthy summer,” LeRonica Roberts, Food Gatherers community food programs manager, said in a press release.

“Okay, I’m an artist!” That’s how Ypsilanti-based type artist Ingrid Ankerson describes the moment when she decided to pursue her passion for art. Today, from a bright mixed-use studio attached to her home, she creates using two printing machines – a Vandercook #4 proof press and a Golding Pearl #11 platen press. While some see the machinery in which Ankerson specializes is antiquated, she produces a seemingly endless variety of intricate, abstract geometric designs with a bold, modern feel.

Moxie Works Studio is launching an inclusive initiative called, “Sponsor a Stool.” This is created by local artist and community arts facilitator Eli Zemper. Eli founded Moxie Works Studio and Curiouser Clay, “an inclusive art studio where artists with disabilities create, experiment, and shape a shared creative culture.” This initiative is part of the Michigan Growth Office Pitch Haus residency, a grant competition across Michigan meant to support art as a blank canvas for creativity.

Spring is rapidly turning to summer, which is why the new Jump! show at the Gutman Gallery is so well timed. The mixed media exhibition had its opening reception during the warm part of Friday evening where the cloudless baby blue sky was just starting to turn golden as the sun really, really took its time to set, and they’ll be in the back room of the space until June 27.
