As part of the project, RATP and Karsan tested autonomous driving and validated the system on the roughly 8.5-kilometre route of bus line 393 (Sucy – Bonneuil RER / Thiais – Carrefour de la Résistance), one of the French capital’s most demanding corridors. Over six months, an autonomous Karsan e-ATAK covered around 3,000 kilometres in mixed traffic, interacting with pedestrians and other vehicles while operating for an average of five hours per day.

On 15 April, Lavi Taxi signed a memorandum of understanding with VinFast and GSM for its new initiative. Lavi Taxi will invest in and deploy the 2,000 VinFast EVs, while GSM will provide consultancy and support for the new technology platform required to operate the fleet. The three companies will also jointly develop a synchronised operational ecosystem, including V-Green charging infrastructure and a specialised workshop system.

In February 2025, BMW unveiled its sixth-generation (Gen6) electric motors and continues to rely on the SSM concept—an electrically excited synchronous machine. Instead of permanent magnets, the rotor generates its magnetic field via a winding powered by direct current. BMW has further refined the SSM to suit the new 800-volt architecture of the Neue Klasse, set to debut in models such as the iX3 and the i3.

The model was first presented in July 2025 – at the time still camouflaged and under the name Super EV Concept – at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, where it took to the track. It made its official debut in October that year at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. Since then, it has been confirmed that the battery-electric Kei car would enter series production.

The 100 electric buses from Switch Mobility are a donation from the Indian government to support clean and sustainable public transport in Mauritius. Switch Mobility says that this fleet marks India’s largest electric bus export to Mauritius. India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar, handed over the final batch of 90 units to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navin Ramgoolam.

With this expansion, Miami and Orlando become the fifth and sixth cities designated by Waymo as ‘open for everyone’. This milestone follows similar rollouts in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Austin. Meanwhile, five additional cities—Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Nashville—are already in the early-access phase for selected users via a waitlist. According to Waymo, over 150,000 users have joined the interest lists for Miami and Orlando in recent months to trial the service.

The agreement between Rivian and Redwood Materials currently applies only to this specific project at the Rivian plant in Illinois. As such, it is far less extensive than Redwood’s partnership with General Motors, under which Redwood uses both new, US-manufactured batteries from GM and end-of-life battery packs from GM’s electric vehicles for stationary energy storage.

On 11 April, Delhi’s Transport Department published a draft for the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026–2030 with multiple regulatory measures to curb air pollution, focusing on accelerating the transition to EVs. It proposes allowing only EVs for new registrations in the three-wheeler segment from 1 January 2027 and extending this restriction to two-wheelers from 1 April 2028, noting that two-wheelers account for about 67 per cent of the total vehicles in the city.

Slate was founded in 2022 but operated in “stealth mode” for its first three years, remaining out of the public eye before revealing its plans in April 2025: the production of a highly affordable electric pickup priced at under $20,000. The vehicle is designed with a modular concept, enabling various customisations—including conversion into a five-seater SUV. The under-$20,000 price tag initially included the US incentive for electric vehicles in the form of a $7,500 tax credit.

The new CEO, Silvio Napoli, succeeds interim CEO Marc Winterhoff, who temporarily took over the management of Lucid after former CEO Peter Rawlinson departed earlier this year. Winterhoff will remain with the company following Napoli’s appointment, assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Lucid. Silvio Napoli brings more than three decades of experience from his time at Schindler, where he most recently held the dual role of CEO and Chairman until early 2025.
