However, thanks to Patreon and the discovery of quilting as an art, she’s able to make a living from her passion as a fabric illustrator. Her passion is apparent in her work: Beyond the bright colors and intricate details, her quilts build worlds and fire the imagination.

Trusting the magic of new beginnings can be intimidating, and even paralyzing if you’re resistant to change. Admittedly, I resist change, especially when it involves technology. It’s my weakest link, which is why I’ve partnered with some of the best people and organizations to help me launch, grow, and maintain my business. Recently, I was faced with the reality that our current website was on its last leg, and we needed to move to a new platform.

This past March, during Women’s History Month, 68 nominees for Brevard’s “Women Who Rock” awards were honored at a sold-out luncheon. The celebration was hosted by Florida Tech’s weVENTURE Women’s Business Center and presenting sponsor Clevens Face and Body Specialists. Winners in six categories were announced at the event, with over 400 attendees present to applaud the efforts of our local female trailblazers.

When Lynne Mills started Harbor Financial Group, she simply wanted a job that let her balance family and work. Now, 30 years later, she’s built a legacy that includes two of her daughters. “It’s the fulfillment of a dream I didn’t even know I had,” she said. It’s a business Mills ran from home while raising her four children, then expanded once they went to college.
