In a saucepan melt the butter and the syrup. Add the bicarb. • Mix all the remaining ingredients except the chocolate together in a large bowl. • Add the melted butter mixture and combine well. • Pour out the batter into the baking tin and press flat with the bottom of a glass. • Allow the crunchies to cool for 10 minutes in the tin. • Place chopped chocolate over the top of the crunchies and when it melts, spread evenly over. • Allow to cool completely in the tin and cut into squares.
