Sondre Eide, CEO of Eide and chairman of the board of Eide Fjordbruk, is asking the government to introduce a guarantee ensuring that fish farmers do not lose capacity when they switch to operations with a lower environmental impact. Norwegian family-owned salmon farmer Eide believes that future growth can be achieved in the locations the industry already has if regulations make it more attractive to invest in closed facilities.

The bacterium Francisella noatunensis has been detected in individual fish from one of four cages at Norcod's Pålskjæra location. The bacteria have been found in individual fish at Norcod's site in the Mausund area. The company does not expect the detection to affect operations or harvest volume.
