Auburn fans are justified in being frustrated with the football program for failing to defend Jordan-Hare Stadium this past Saturday night in the Tigers' first conference game of the season. Are they justified in wanting head coach Alex Golesh fired and AD John Cohen removed so soon into the 2026 season, though? Well, partially.

The ratings are in from Week 3 of college football. They paint a troubling picture for Auburn and Florida's SEC opener at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Per Nielsen, Ohio State's 59-3 blowout win over Kent State drew in 2.7 million viewers. By contrast, the Tigers and Gators drew 2.1 million viewers. Of course, the 10.9 million viewers for the LSU-Ole Miss instant classic had something to do with the small viewership for Auburn and Florida.

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall took a shot at Auburn and the Jordan-Hare Stadium crowd this past Saturday, who witnessed a 44-39 loss to the Gators. He didn't even have the guts to actually name names. "Our FAU game, the crowd, was livelier than what we played in on Saturday night. So, I can only imagine what that’s gonna feel like when you bring a top-five team into this place," Sumrall said on the BFW show. UF knocked off FAU in Week 1 in rather unimpressive fashion.

Auburn fans are on high alert following the cancellation of the Georgia-Clemson home-and-home series. The Tigers have major dates planned over the next four years against Notre Dame in 2027 and 2028 and Miami in 2029 and 2030. The last thing Auburn fans need is to have the chance to travel to South Bend or Miami cancelled. There's just too much doom and gloom already after a poor defensive effort against Florida undermined the team's hopes this season.

Eli Manning is still over the moon about his alma mater, Ole Miss, upsetting LSU 32-24 in Week 3. The former two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants teased fellow former Super Bowl champion and proud former LSU Tiger Andrew Whitworth about it during the Monday Night Football Manningcast. Whitworth got the last laugh on the night after his LA Rams beat Eli's Giants 28-6.

Alex Golesh's not calling Auburn's Week 4 matchup with Vanderbilt a must-win could've been a disastrous thing to say. Especially right after the Tigers lost 44-39 to Florida in a contest that the final score makes seem more competitive than it was. Some fans may have gotten Gus Malzahn 2020 "solid year" vibes from that statement. Golesh explained that the culture dictates that the preparation remains the same in the early stages of this rebuild, regardless of the previous result.

Auburn opened up as a sizable -9.5 home favorite over Vanderbilt for this coming Saturday. It's very confusing why oddsmakers would project the Tigers to be such massive favorites over the Commodores after what transpired in Week 3. Auburn, of course, was run over by Florida running back Jadan Baugh en route to a 44-39 loss under the lights at Jordan-Hare Stadium. While the Tigers showed plenty of fight against the Gators, the defensive woes were crippling.
