FOX16 began broadcasting on June 26, 1983 providing brief news updates and public programming. In 2000, the station debuted its first local newscasts.

Human remains found in Trumann, AR house
TRUMANN, Ark. — An investigation into a missing woman led to the discovery of human remains in a house Friday, police in Trumann, Arkansas say. Officers discovered the remains around 8:15 Friday morning, as Trumann’s SWAT Team and the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 401 N. Pine Ave. The remains have not been positively identified and the manner of death has not been determined. They have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock.
Two Forrest City federal prison guards sentenced for contraband smuggling
HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. – U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas officials said on Friday that two guards from the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex received prison sentences on Aug. 19 for smuggling contraband. Officials said 37-year-old Robert Cochran and 42-year-old Tejuana Dillard each received a two-and-a-half-year sentence after separate grand jury indictments followed by two distinct investigations.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Zelda, the Little Rock Zoo’s longtime miniature horse resident, has died at age 27. Zoo officials announced on social media that Zelda died after the acute onset of gastrointestinal issues. Zelda arrived at the Little Rock Zoo in March 2000 alongside fellow miniature horse Zinnamon and a miniature donkey named Zipper. Data cards retrieved from plane and helicopter that collided in deadly Pennsylvania airport crash

(AP) — Federal investigators have pulled intact data cards from a state police helicopter and Cessna plane that collided at a small airport in central Pennsylvania, killing the plane’s pilot. Aaron McCarter, investigator-in-charge with the National Transportation Safety Board, called the recovery of the cards “very good news from a data standpoint” during a media briefing Friday morning.
Navy reportedly weighs renaming aircraft carrier for Donald Trump
WACO, Texas (KWKT) – The name of Pearl Harbor hero Doris Miller could be removed from one of the U.S. Navy’s next aircraft carriers, with President Donald Trump’s name reportedly among those being considered as a replacement. The Navy has been discussing renaming the future USS Doris Miller, the Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier designated CVN-81, reports CNN. No decision has been formally announced. The carrier was named for Miller in January 2020 during a ceremony at Pearl Harbor.

Arkansas National Guard sends 2 Black Hawk helicopters to assist with Union County wildfire

Officials said Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sander ordered the deployment on Friday. Each helicopter will be dispatched with a “Bambi Bucket,” a device slung from the helicopter to pick up water from lakes and then dump it on a fire.
