Collierville fire chief resigns; Mayor releases statement

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Collierville Fire Chief John Selberg has resigned from his position, officials announced Friday morning. In a statement, Collierville officials stated that Selberg “made the decision to retire and has resigned from his position effective immediately.” The situation prompted a statement of explanation from Town Mayor Maureen Fraser that was released late Friday.

MPD officer terminated in Tyre Nichols case may be rehired

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A former officer who was terminated by the Memphis Police Department in connection with the Tyre Nichols case may be back on the force. Adrian Blakes had an informal hearing Friday with the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission. Jimmy Thomas, the senior legal advisor for MPD, told the commission that Blakes was terminated, but had prevailed in a grievance process and wanted his job back.
