FESTIVAL KICKOFF PARTY
A Peach Festival kickoff party was held Thursday night at Daddy Joe’s Beach House BBQ & Grill restaurant. A large crowd was on hand for concerts by Craig Henry Band and Raphael Graves Band on an outdoor stage in a larger version of Daddy Joe’s popular “Patio Session” summer music events.

Charlottesville, Va. —On July 4, 2026, Robert “Bob” Porter Dixon, 95, passed away peacefully in Albemarle County, Virginia. His loving daughter, Judy Ann Dixon, and her husband, Juan Jose Ascoli, never left his side. Robert will be laid to rest, as he requested, wearing his favorite pair of blue jeans in the hometown of Smyrna, South Carolina, where he grew up.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Melanie Love Nance and the son of the late Curtis Wayne Nance, Sr. and Gloria Adams Nance, was raised by his step-parents, the late Gayle Wallace and Billy O. Wallace.

Robert Arnold Petty, a dedicated family man and proud veteran, passed away on July 4, 2026. Robert was born on December 28, 1945, to the late James W. Petty, Sr. and the late Mary Jordan Petty. He was a graduate of Granard High School and Denmark Technical College. Rooted in the Baptist faith, he carried those values throughout his life. A proud and honorable veteran, Robert served his country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Lamar Parris Gaffney – Lamar Smith Parris, 21, passed away on July 08, 2026. A cryptside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at 11:00am at Frederick Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Asher Panton officiating. The Gaffney location of Gordon Mortuary is serving the Parris family.
