The Halifax event, planned for Jan. 14-17 at Scotiabank Centre, will be replaced by an April 8-11 competition at the Servus Arena in Red Deer, Alta. The Curling Group also announced that the second edition of the league will culminate with a championship event April 15-18 in Kalamazoo, Mich.

A U.S. government official said Abu Zubaydah, who wore a neatly trimmed beard and glasses, had “probably” served as one of Osama bin Laden's most trusted facilitators.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House said Thursday that it was withdrawing its nomination of Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper, to lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ensuring that an agency at the forefront of President Donald Trump’s domestic agenda will remain without a Senate-confirmed leader for at least a while longer. Schroyer is close to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, a former U.S. senator from Oklahoma. He has little experience with immigration.

NEW DELHI (AP) — Abhishek Sharma hit 100 off just 30 balls as India beat Afghanistan by 127 runs to complete a sweep of the three-match T20 series Thursday. It was the fastest T20 hundred amongst test-playing nations, with Sharma overtaking Finn Allen’s 33-ball effort for New Zealand against South Africa this year. In all, Sharma scored 108 off 34 balls, amassing 11 sixes and nine fours. Overall, it was the third-fastest T20 hundred and the fastest by an Indian batter.
